Gal Gadot will portray Wonder Woman in the highly anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, a casting decision that ruffled the feathers of many fans. But star Henry Cavill, who plays the Man of Steel, praised her in a recent interview.

Cavill and Armie Hammer spoke to Isreali site YNET to promote their new film The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and after a few jokes about Cavill's portraying the female Amazonian warrior, the actor got serious and noted that his co-star more than lived up to expectations for the part.

Interviewer: Henry, I know you don’t want to talk about Superman, so I’m not going to talk about that. Wonder Woman.

Henry Cavill: Wonder Woman?

Interviewer: Gal Gadot.

Armie Hammer: Are you going to play Wonder Woman?

Cavill: Well you see they offered me the role and I was like– ‘Hmm, you know what, I think Gal did a great job so…’

Armie: You would have filled out that skirt well.

Cavill: It’s a dream of mine.

Interviewer: She’s Israeli, we are rooting for her. How was it, how was she?

Cavill: Absolutely fantastic, yeah she’s really cool, she makes a really cool Wonder Woman.

The claims that Gadot had the wrong body type to play the character were pretty ridiculous in the first place. It's true that she's not the larger, muscular type one might envision for Wonder Woman, but she's clearly put in the work to be as ripped as possible for the part. Plus, we've seen so many different interpretations of different comic book characters over the last few years that Gadot's casting should not even raise any eyebrows.

What do you think of Cavill's remarks? What are your expectations for Gadot as Wonder Woman? Let us know in the comments section.
