When people think of Superman and romance, Lois Lane almost immediately comes to mind. But the Man of Steel has also had another significant love interest in Wonder Woman. Both female characters will appear in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, so it was only a matter of time until star Henry Cavill heard the question from an interviewer.

Cosmopolitan asked the British actor if he thinks Wonder Woman is a better fit for Superman than Lois Lane.

"This is a very long discussion because there are a lot of questions to be asked and answered," Cavill said. "I mean who is better for a super-powered alien: a human or a goddess? Yes, the goddess can do all the normal things, which we would think are normal in a relationship, and not have any fear of Superman. But you also need to have that baseline of humanity, which Lois provides and literally keeps his feet on the ground, keeps him down to earth. So that's more of a debate than an answer."

So Cavill didn't really answer the question there, though it seems like he leaned toward Lois because of the non-physical components. She keeps him grounded in reality and tethered to humanity. Sure, Wonder Woman is probably a better match physically because Superman wouldn't have to worry about, you know, killing her by accident, but Lois provides many other emotional and spiritual benefits.

Regardless, Cavill also took the time to address the increasing number of strong female comic book characters in movies and on television.

"Strong women are nothing new for the comic book world. I'm glad they are being represented a bit more in film and on TV," he said. "Wonder Woman has been around forever, she is an incredibly strong character. She can go toe-to-toe with Superman sometimes."
