Before the premiere of The Bastard Executioner, FX is planning a Sons of Anarchy prequel series with creator Kurt Sutter. Should audiences get ready for the return of Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) in the SOA spinoff, which will bring back the Mayans Motorcycle Club?

In our series finale recap, Jax said his goodbyes to his kids, leaving Nero and Wendy (Drea De Matteo) as their guardians. After leaving the club in the hands of Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) and Tig (Kim Coates), Jax was speeding across the highway on his father's motorcycle, heading straight towards his death. Nero kept driving towards the farm that he wanted to take Gemma to. Jax's kids would grow up on the farm, without their father beside them.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Southpaw screenwriter is prepping a potential spinoff to his long-running FX biker drama.Still early in the developmental process, the follow-up will center on the Mayans Motorcycle Club, led by president Marcus Alvarez (played by Emilio Rivera).

At present, there is no creative team involved, The Bastard Executioner showrunner is keeping busy juggling his roles as writer/director/actor. Though Sutter is keeping his lips sealed about the time period and which SAMCRO's stars will return, he did discuss a few details about the First 9 prequel series.

Focusing on the SAMCRO founders, Sutter reveals to E! Online, "It's something that we have talked about," Sutter tells E! News. "It's something that we have interest in. We are interested. I think the timing of it really depends on what unfolds. I think for me, and the network, it's taking the next obvious and right choice and [The Bastard Executioner] is the energy we're moving in now."

On his official Twitter account, Sutter wrote a series of tweets, "The Mayan Project is very much in the infancy stages. I will be co-creating with another writer who will run the show if it moves forward."

Sutter then tweets, "Mayan Project won't take place in NoCal. That steps on SOA mythology. Although I'd love to find a way to use my brother, @EmilioRivera48"

Kurt Sutter's medieval drama, The Bastard Executioner, premieres September 15 at 10 pm on FX.
