Just because the series finale of Sons of Anarchy aired on FX, BOOM! Studios has one last epic tale for SAMCRO. Based on the popular crime drama, Clay Morrow (memorably played by Ron Perlman) return in the penultimate issue of Sons of Anarchy #24, by writer Ryan Ferrier and artist Matías Bergara

In our Sons of Anarchy interview, Ferrier reveals who are his favorite characters, which you can definitely tell in the writing, "It's almost impossible to pick a favorite, as there's a special place in my heart for everyone. That being said, I do feel a connection with Chibs, as my whole family is Scottish. I also really gravitate towards Opie, as an entirely tragic and sympathetic character."

In our previous review of issue #23, Ferrier took readers on a flashback tour between Seasons 1 and 2 of the crime drama. Reeling from the death of his wife, Opie Winston (Ryan Hurst) was on the road, searching for new meaning. Grieving over his loss, Opie goes back to his old job at the lumberyard. Unfortunately, Opie can never stay on the straight and narrow as Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Clay fight argue over their vision of the club.

Ferrier continues with his strong handle on characterization; which is why Clay's return is filled with so much tension and drama. While Clay continues his IRA deal, Jax is wondering why it means to be an outlaw. The more these two argue, the more Jax contemplates over the meaning of family.

Not only does Bergara bring in the crime and mayhem, this is an interesting coming-of-age tale for Opie. Bergara keeps the panels closeup to Opie's facial expressions, focusing on his tired eyes. The illustrations capture a broken-down young man, who's forced by the tragedy of destiny to live a dangerous lifestyle.

RATING: MUST BUY

Ryan Ferrier's gangster dialogue and Matías Bergara's reflective artwork make Sons of Anarchy #24 an engaging reading experience. There's only one issue left of the SOA comic book issues and you cannot miss it!
