'The Newsroom' Season 3: Quentin Tarantino Praises Jeff Daniels' Will McAvoy Before 2015 Emmys

Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed political drama, The Newsroom, came to an end on HBO. Though the series finale has aired, the HBO drama continues to gain momentum as Quentin Tarantino praises Jeff Daniels as ACN news anchorman Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels) and his 2015 Emmys nomination.

In our finale recap, Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) finally told Maggie (Alison Pill) how he felt about her. The night Will was released from prison, Charlie Skinner (Sam Waterson) died fighting for Mac and Sloan, after Lucas wanted them both fired. Saving the day, Leona Lansing (Jane Fonda) convinced Lucas to hire Mac as Charlie's replacement. Though Charlie is missed, Will convinces the rest of the ACN news team to return back to work, because that's what their mentor would have wanted.

With so much plot during the final episodes, you would have thought the Emmys would have nominated Aaron Sorkin something for writing! As we mentioned before, Daniels is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series, competing against Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline), Kevin Spacey (House Of Cards), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan).

In an interview with New York Magazine, as transcribed by Vulture, the Hateful 8 director describes his love for the show, "Now, the HBO show I loved was Aaron Sorkin's The Newsroom. That was the only show that I literally watched three times. I would watch it at seven o'clock on Sunday, when the new one would come on. Then after it was over, I'd watch it all over again. Then I would usually end up watching it once during the week, just so I could listen to the dialogue one more time."
