Fashion Police returned from it's extended hiatus on Aug. 31 to give out fines and tickets for some offenders that attended the 2015 Video Music Awards, which took place in Los Angeles over the weekend. However, while hitting the airwaves again, many wondered how new host, Melissa Rivers would address Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin's exits from the show. Scandal broke out earlier this year after a comment was made regarding Disney star Zendaya Coleman's hair. To address the issue, the daughter of Joan Rivers followed in her mother's footsteps and used what she knew to try to smooth over the controversy – comedy.

In a skit that aired on the show, Rivers addressed both the exits in a humorous manner:

"It's been a little bit of a crazy year around here," the new host of the series explained in the opening sketch, where she is seen using a lint roller to clean the carpet.

However, the skit gets even better as she pokes some fun at former co-hosts Griffin and Osbourne.

"I'm still cleaning up messes, but the good news is Fashion Police is back!" Rivers exclaims while holding up the roller covered in Kelly's signature lavender hair and Kathy's red hair.

This episode was Rancic's comeback following making comments about Coleman's hair, and according to Radar Online, the former host of E! News played it safe.

However, just because she played it safe doesn't mean that she didn't make her opinion heard. The star called out Britney Spears for having the worst VMA look of the night and even picked on the outfit, which showed off her belly button ring, which Rancic called "so 1999."

It seems that the broadcast is finally getting to stand on solid ground again, as NeNe Leakes and Margaret Cho joined the night's show as guest commentators. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cho poked fun at the Zendaya comment that Rancic got into trouble with earlier this year.

"I feel like that hair probably smells like pot and patchouli," Cho said of Miley Cyrus' VMA hair. "If anybody's hair smells like it."
