USA Network's 'Shooter' Cast: Emily Rios Joins Ryan Phillippe, Mark Wahlberg Pilot!

Based on the 2007 Paramount feature film, of the same starring Mark Wahlberg, Shooter is making its way to USA Network. Actress Emily Rios (Breaking Bad) joins the cast alongside actor Ryan Phillippe (Crash) in the USA drama, which will also be executive produced by Wahlberg.

According to Variety, a formal pilot order was given to the project from Paramount TV and Universal Cable Prods. The USA drama is inspired by author Stephen Hunter's novel, Point of Impact. The plot revolves around an ex-Marine sniper, Bob Lee Swagger (Phillippe), who is recruited to thwart a presidential assassination. Swagger hen becomes framed for the heinous crime.

Adapted by John Hlavin (Underworld: Awakening) and with Simon Cellan Jones (Ballers) on board to direct, Wahlberg stated, "I love the character of Bob Lee Swagger and we are thrilled to have Ryan on board for the show."

Deadline reports, The Bridge actress has landed the role of Nadine Memphis, an ambitious young FBI agent. Memphis (Rios) unravels a conspiracy with Swagger. At the center of the conspiracy, Memphis now has a target on her back. She is forced to form an uneasy alliance with Swagger.

As we previously mentioned, the Cruel Intentions actor threw his name out there when he voiced his attention towards Marvel superhero. Rumors had circulated that he wanted the lead role of Daniel Rand the upcoming Netflix series, Iron Fist.

USA Network continues with its winning streak after taking over the summer, with its one-two punch of popular dramas, Suits and Mr. Robot. Check out out 5 thoughts on the fifth season of Suits and the first season of Mr. Robot.

No official word when Shooter, which is one of five drama pilots ordered for 2016, will make its official premiere on USA Network.
