LL Cool J's son, Najee Smith, was arrested Monday night in NYC.  He was taken into custody after getting into an altercation with authorities at a restaurant. The 26-year-old son to the hip-hop star was at Catch Rooftop with friends in the Meatpacking District, celebrating his birthday that evening, when he became quite intoxicated. Authorities say that he caused quite a disturbance while inside the venue, with a club employee asking him to leave after a fight with bouncers ended the birthday dinner.

Reports say that Smith refused to leave the premises, leading to him being pressed by bouncers of the restaurant, who he attempted to fight. Eventually, the bouncers were able to forcefully escort him to the ground level of the rooftop venue, where the police were called to take him into custody. Cool J’s son was charged with criminal trespassing after the incident, but there’s no details on whether or not he has been bailed out. More charges may be added while in police custody.

The nightclub’s website described Monday nights as being one of their biggest nights, stating that the venue is “one of the most exclusive in the city and is host to fashion models, celebrities, nightlife industry insiders and big spending bottle clients.”

Although this isn’t the first scandal that Smith has gotten himself into, his father, LL Cool J, has never publicly acknowledged his son’s previous behaviors. The hip-hop veteran has been focusing on more of his son’s positive ventures, such as graduating college in 2014.

Smith has been part of his father’s career in the past, as he played a role in Cool J’s music video for his single “Hush,” which was released back in 2005. He played the role of a younger Cool J for the visuals, dressing up similarly to his father’s style from his debut back in the early 1980s.
