After being with the Denver Nuggets for most of his NBA career, Ty Lawson was recently traded to the Houston Rockets. Earlier this week, Lawson made some claims about MVP and Golden State Warriors star point guard, Stephen Curry. Lawson claimed Curry was straight "chillin'" on his defense in the 2015 NBA Finals, to which Curry replies: "That's funny."

The irony is in the fact that Lawson is making a claim about Curry's defense after Curry carried his team through the NBA Finals and won the 2015 NBA Championship.

Earlier this week, Lawson stated to Yahoo Sports, "Steph Curry needed someone to go back at him."

He continued by saying: "I thought Steph was just chillin' on defense - and then going crazy on offense. He looked like he was just putting shots up and not working so much on the defensive end. He would just come down and hit three or four 3's. He can shoot when he's got his legs under him."

According to Rusty Simmons' Twitter, Curry was smug in his reaction to Lawson's accusation. He simply said, "That's funny." As reported by Slam Online, Curry initially looked down and laughed, and finally replied with "It's funny. That's all I've got to say. It's funny."

Which it truly is, funny that is. During the 2015 NBA Finals against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, Curry managed to score an average of 4.3 defensive boards as a point guard. Curry is also ranked 7th amongst all players in the steals category: he averages 1.86 steals per game, as reported by NBC Sports. So, it's pretty obvious that Lawson is simply talking trash against the MVP.

The funniest part of it all is the fact that Lawson is talking trash for a team who lost against the Warriors 3-1 during the playoffs, according to UpRoxx. Given the fact that Lawson wasn't actually playing for the Rockets at the time, his presence on the team wouldn't have made much of a difference regardless (especially since they were under the curse of Lil B, The Based God).

Maybe Lawson should've done some statistical research before pointing fingers at the reigning MVP.
