Comedian Jim Jefferies's bit on gun control appears to be going viral following the horrific attack at Umpqua Community College in Oregon. The shootings have left the nation shocked, and like many attacks of the past, the idea of stricter gun control laws are surfacing, as are more mindful attempts to keep those with mental illnesses away from guns.

The comedian's bit focuses on the argument pro-gun people oftentimes display, that they need their firearms for protection.

"'I need to protect me. I need to protect my family,'" Jefferies jokes, in character. He further asks if "protection" is why they refer to guns as assault rifles.

"Never heard of these f*cking protection rifles you speak of."

The Australian comedian's routine further details a break-in he experienced when living in England, in which he was tied up with his girlfriend by men with a machete and a hammer.

"American's always go, 'Imagine if you had a gun.'" Jefferies then jokes that he was naked and forgot his holster. "What world do you live in where you're constantly f*cking ready? You have guns because you like guns!"

He claims that there's one argument for guns that he can understand, and that is merely that people own guns because they like guns and don't want to have them taken away. That, to him, is the only possible argument for those who have guns. It's not a matter of protection; it's a matter of having something that you enjoy and not wanting it to be taken away.

So, what does Jefferies have to say about this? Well, we're not too sure, but maybe it's this?
