Jay Leno Steals 'Tonight Show' Back from Jimmy Fallon? CNBC Car Program Host Steps In

WTF! Former Tonight Show host Jay Leno just cannot keep his greedy, denim-wearing, engine oil-filled paws off of the NBC program he once called home. Just last night he swooped in to steal the Tonight Show monologue back from current host Jimmy Fallon and– oh, wait, nope... we're wrong. Fallon asked him to tell some jokes during Tuesday night's monologue to promote the legendary comedian's upcoming CNBC show Jay Leno's Garage.

Oops. Our bad, Jay. We love you.

Yes, that's right. Fallon kicked off Tuesday night's monologue by faking a hamstring injury after delivering a joke about Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, noting that he "pulled a hammy on that last one." The former Saturday Night Live star then explained that no matter what, however, the Tonight Show monologue "must go on." He then tagged in Leno to take on the rest of the jokes.

And after a brief thank you, Leno jumped right into it.

"The election is getting nasty," he started with. "See this- Ralph Nader called Hillary Clinton a 'corporatist' and a 'militarist.' Isn't that unbelievable ... Ralph Nader is still alive!"

#Zinger! Nicely done, Leno.
