The CW network aired the Season 2 premiere of The Flash. In the upcoming Episode 2, will Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) end up "going to war" against another scarlet speedster, the original Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears)?

We mentioned before, Teddy Sears will play the recurring role of Jay Garrick, the Silver Age Flash. Viewers caught a glimpse of Jay's iconic winged helmet in the first season finale. In his arrival, Jay warns Barry and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs about an impending danger that he alone cannot stop. Barry and Jay will embark on a mentor/protege relationship as they learn more about the Speed Force.

In our recent recap, time has passed since the singularity almost swallowed up Central City. Unfortunately, there were casualties that plagued the scarlet speedster since his latest victory. Running out of time, with the Flash exhausting his powers, Ronnie Raymond (Robbie Amell) and Martin Stein (Victor Garber) merged together once more to become Firestorm. After blowing themselves up, Barry could only save Martin as Caitlin lost her true love again.

In an interview with Variety, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg reveals why Jay Garrick revealed himself to Barry in the cliffhanger, "Jay has already been to war, Jay's been The Flash a little bit longer than Barry and he's a little bit more hardened by experience and a little bit more solitary. But he knows things about being The Flash that Barry doesn't know yet because he doesn't have the wealth of experience, and Jay is able to teach Barry some new Flash tricks that didn't even occur to him."

Kreisberg adds, "But by the same token, Jay has lost something and he's a Flash without a secret identity; he's a Flash who worked on his own; he's a Flash who didn't have a team at STAR Labs; and that's something that Barry's able to give back to Jay, that sense of community and a sense of what it is you're fighting for and home and friends."

We have 5 reasons why we're excited for Season 2 of The Flash:
