MTV brought the cast and crew of The Shannara Chronicles onto the 2015 New York Comic Con. Austin Butler (Wil Ohmsford), Poppy Drayton (Amberle Elessedil), and Manu Bennett (Allanon) dish on what fans should expect from the first season.

According to the official MTV website, the fantasy drama is a brand new scripted series adapted from Terry Brooks' best-selling fantasy books. The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara and The Wishsong of Shannara. The three installments were never intended to be a trilogy since each part follows different leads. Brothers Shea and Flick Ohmsford are on a quest to retrieve the Sword of Shannara in part one. The second volume follows Shea's grandson, Wil Ohmsford as he rescues an endangered Elven nation. The final chapter follows Jair and Brin Ohmsford, the children of Wil, as they fight to save the Four Lands.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Poppy Drayton, Austin Butler, Manu Bennett, John Rhys-Davies were on stage alongside with Brooks, Al Gough, Miles Millar, and director Jonathan Liebesman. TV Guide's Damian Holbrook moderated the panel and Q&A session about the upcoming MTV adaptation, since the first season is based off of The Elfstones of Shannara.

As transcribed by EW, Gough describes the bringing the books to live-action, "People compare it to other fantasy stuff in the genre but to us it's closer to Star Wars, because I think what's interesting about Shannara is, again, for us, Shannara isn't a place, it's a family, like the Skywalkers. And they're the only ones with magic. I think there's just so much in the book because it's our world in the future - so somehow it's much more relatable."

Rhy-Davies describes the show, "Everything is right, I will lay my shirt but this is going to be one of the big hits of all time. The Shannara Chronicles are going to be amazing."

The Shannara Chronicles will make its debut with a special, two-hour premiere on Tuesday, January 5 at 10pm, following the Season 5b return of Teen Wolf at 9pm.
