It's being reported that Chris Rock is in talks to host the Oscars in 2016. Should everything go down the way we're hoping, it'll be the second time the Top Five star would host the Academy Awards, as he did before back in 2005.

Variety reports that should Rock step into the hosting spot, he'll be teamed up again with Oscars co-producer Reginald Hudlin, who apparently directed the pilot of the former Saturday Night Live player's series Everybody Hates Chris.

Should Rock agree to the gig, he'll be following last year's host Neil Patrick Harris. His show reportedly was met with a drop in ratings at 16%. Therefore, the producers of the 2016 show (Hudlin and David Hill) are already coming up with ideas for the show to bring viewers back. A couple of possibilities would be either a solo performer or "a combination of people for the duties," according to the report.

Rock was recently in the news for having helped honor comedian Eddie Murphy at this past weekend's Kennedy Center where Murphy received the Mark Twain Prize. He was joined by the likes of Kathy Griffin, Daily Show host Trevor Noah and Tracy Morgan in paying homage to the famed comedian, who, to delight the entire world, finally did that Bill Cosby impression we were hoping for.

Here are some photos from the night:
