Joe Biden Not Running for President: Makes Announcement Alongside Barack Obama

Its official, folks: Joe Biden is not running for president. The vice president made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon alongside his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, and President Barack Obama in The Rose Garden section of the White House.

Biden took to the podium with both supporters at his side and announced that while his family is not necessarily over grieving for his late son, Beau Biden, who died back in May from brain cancer, they are ready for him to run for the POTUS seat. Unfortunately, Biden himself feels that time has passed, and therefore, will not run for president in 2016.

He did say, however, that while he will not be a candidate for the seat, he "will not be silent" and further urged Democrats to run on President Obama's record.

 "While I will not be a candidate, I will not be silent … This is what I believe: I believe President Obama has led this nation from crisis to recovery, and we’re now on the cusp of resurgence. I’m proud to have played a part in that. This Party, our nation, will be making a tragic mistake if we walk away, or attempt to undo, the Obama legacy." The will he, won't he surrounding Biden has been going on for months now, with many believing he would run as a result of it being Beau's dying wish. Of course, given the lengthy amount of time it was taking for him to make a decision – after all, he was grieving – it seemed that with each passing day it was less and less likely to happen—especially after his interview with new Late Show host Stephen Colbert, when he claimed that it should be something you're sure you want to do.

So, now that Biden has officially announced he's not running, we're curious as to what CNN is going to do with their "just in case" podium. You know, the one they used during the primary democratic debate just in case Biden showed up to announce his candidacy.
