Singer and actress Selena Gomez' has a new Paramount television gig with a straight-to-series order that is one of the most talked-about deals in Hollywood. The "Same Old Love" singer is in talks to produce a hit from the bestselling young adult novel 13 Reasons Why and turn it into a 13 episode miniseries for Netflix. The series follows a boy named Clay Jensen who returns from school to find a mysterious box with cassettes by classmate and crush Hannah Baker, a teen who committed suicide two weeks earlier. She explains thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life and Clay is one of them. The new programming will be based on the 2007 novel written by Jay Asher.

The pilot was written by a Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Brian Yorkey, who is also the series creator. Before finding a home at Netflix as a series, "13 Reasons Why" had been in development as a feature film at Universal but I guess the super starlet decided to jump on the opportunity to take it digitally.

According to Variety, the streaming network has been in talks for over a year with producers. Selena bought the rights to a screen adaption with mom Mandy Teefey, producer Kristel Laiblin, Anonymous Content and Paramount TV. Casting details has yet to be revealed.

The 23-year-old has no plans to slow down. Gomez released her new album "Revival" earlier this month and will hit the road next year for a tour. Her last appearance was on the small screen, as the star of Disney's "Wizards of Waverly Place," which ended its fourth season run 2012.

Not only is she a talented entertainer, but her team is grooming her to be a serious woman of business in LaLa Land. This is becoming a great month for the pop culture sensation. Maybe that duet with Justin Bieber gave her some super power mojo. Go Selena!
