NBC captivated audiences with the winter finale of Blindspot. With Season 2 of Blindspot already renewed, how much of Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander)'s tattoos and past will be "different" than when first conceived?

As we previously mentioned, Patterson's (Ashley Johnson) seemingly unemployed but forever loyal ex-boyfriend David (Joe Dinicol) was killed off. David went rogue to crack a code and win back Patterton, but ended up with his throat slit. It seemed like the end for incarcerated crime boss Saul Guerrero (Lou Diamond Philips)., The corrupt CIA deputy director Carter (Michael Gaston) orchestrated Saul's hit behind bars. After water-boarding Jane, Carter met his own demise as he was shot down by an assassin. Recognizing the face of Carter's assassin, Jane watched a recording she made herself, explaining she has orchestrated everything.

We also mentioned, the top-rated new series has been granted an early renewal order. Nearly three months into its first season, the order for more episodes came at a time when shows were being trimmed. The current episode count for the freshmen drama has been upped to 23.

In an interview with TV Line, showrunner/creator Martin Gero explains if the second season renewal will affect the pace of season one. Will the episodes continue to reveal about Jane's past?

Gero answers, "It doesn't affect it at all. This show was always designed to move really fast. We have an enormous amount of story we want to get through. One of the reasons we got the early pick-up was, in the conversations we were having just about the end of this season, you can't help but talk about where you want the season to go. I hope [NBC] got excited creatively, and we went from there. We have not changed the pacing of the show a lick, depending on whether we got the 22[-episode order] or the 13 or the Season 2.

The Blindspot creator adds, "For us, we always knew what this first season was going to be. My favorite types of shows are ones that feel like novels - each season feels like a novel in a series. This season has its own internal engine and a beginning, middle and end. It tees up what will be a slightly different, but hopefully very exciting, second season."
