The Season 7 series finale of Mad Men aired on AMC, but has not been forgotten by the industry. After playing his memorable role of Don Draper for seven seasons, actor Jon Hamm, creator Matthew Weiner has earned nods from the 2016 Writers Guild of America.

In our finale recap, in the closing minutes, Don found himself at a retreat after Stephanie (Caity Lotz) abandoned him. Breaking down, Don wanted to come back for his dying ex-wife and and children, but he didn't want to return home empty-handed. In a state of medication, Don found himself inspired, coming up with the renowned Coca-Cola commercial that will make a mark in advertising history.

As we mentioned, Hamm was nominated and won for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series at the recent Emmy Awards. With a standing ovation, which started from Emmy winer Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Hamm received the recognition of seven years of powerful performances. It is only fitting now that the show continues to get its recognition.

According to TV Line, The Writers Guild of America has released its list of 2016 nominations. The winners will be announced in February, during simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City. Mad Men has earned a nod for Drama Series, competing against Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, and Game of Thrones.

The highly satisfying series finale, Person to Person, has also earned Weiner a sole nomination for Episodic Drama. After so many years, working on this AMC drama, putting his heart, soul, and passion into everything, we're crossing our fingers for the Mad Men creator/showrunner.

Winners of the The Writers Guild of America will be announced Saturday, February 13.

We have 5 reasons why we're still missing Mad Men after the series finale.
