Slash, Nikki Sixx, Alice Cooper and Many Others Pay Tribute To Scott Weiland After His Death

Slash and many other musicians have taken to social media to pay tribute to singer Scott Weiland, who was found dead on his tour bus at the age of 48. The troubled singer, who struggled with drug abuse, is rumored to have died of a drug overdose. Guitarist Slash and many others posted their condolences and remembered the former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver singer.

Slash took to Instagram to remember Weiland, following the news of the 48-year-old's death.

Weiland, the former frontman of Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver and The Wildabouts, who was found dead in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The Wildabouts were scheduled to play a concert in Minnesota on Friday. The show was canceled on Thursday because of "slow ticket sales", according to Minneapolis Star Tribute reporter Jon Bream.

Weiland was the frontman for Velvet Revolver alongside Guns N' Roses musicians Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. The singer was replaced after clasing with his bandmates in 2008. The late singer was once questioned about his firing from Velvet Revolver, blaming being sacked on the bandmates egos.  Weiland responded, "There were a lot of egos in the band, including mine. Everybody was, basically, a star, a celebrity. To make a group like that work — like a supergroup-type thing — and to make it last for… I'm surprised we were together for, actually, seven years."

Velvet Revolver actually reunited with the troubled singer for a charity show in 2012. Slash took to Instagram.com to remember Weiland after hearing the news of his death. He shared a picture of the singer performing onstage and wrote, "Sad day. RIP Scott Weiland."

Velvet Revolver's bassist Dave Kushner added, "RIP Scott Weiland."

Many other musicians tweeted tributes, including one from Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, who wrote, "Sad to hear about Scott's passing. I hope it wasn't drugs. The saddest part of the story is his kids and family being left behind." Rocker Alice Cooper tweeted, "Deeply saddened by the passing of singer #ScottWeiland. What a voice we've lost. Thoughts and prayers to his family." Aerosmith's Joe Perry also tweeted about the sad news.

Other musicians and celebrities paid tribute and remembered Weiland, including Travis Barker, Juliette Lewis, Nirvana's Krist Novoselic, Taylor Momsen, comedian Chris Rock and director Judd Apatow.

Weiland did an interview in June 2015, where he denied rumors that he was still doing drugs.

He said, "There are some people that still think that I do drugs and it's been 13 years since I stopped doing drugs."

In his memoir published in 2011, Not Dead & Not For Sale, Weiland wrote of how things went off the rails during Velvet Revolver's 2007 tour.

At the beginning of the tour, I was okay, but then a single line of coke in England did the trick. I snorted it," Spin magazine reported that Weiland wrote. "And soon the demons were back. Thus began another decline. ... I was out there again, going to dangerous places to buy substances."
