Ranbir Kapoor & Ayan Mukherji to Work Together in Superhero Movie 'Dragon'

Bollywood director Ayan Mukherji is finally ready with the script of his upcoming superhero film, Dragon, featuring his best friend Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

In 2009, Mukherji made his debut film, Wake Up Sid, with Kapoor and on the film sets, the two became close friends. The duo joined their hands in the 2013 romantic drama film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that also featured Kapoor's former girlfriend, Deepika Padukone. Now, after two successful movies, Mukherji has planned his third directorial venture which will be produced by Karan Johar. According to Deccan Chronicle, in Mukherji's upcoming superhero film, Kapoor's power element is fire, so the makers have decided to call the film Dragon.

"The film is based on mythology but set in today's times. It will be a three-part series (Hollywood style) and the story from the first part will be taken ahead to the next film. Now keeping Ranbir's superpowers in mind, the makers have come up with a suitable title for the film. There were many names that came up during the brainstorming sessions, but Ayan was keen to stick with Dragon."

At a recent press event, when a reporter asked Mukherji about the superhero movie updates, the director was quoted by NDTV Movies as responding:

"People are talking about this film from a very long time. I have completed the script of this film. Finally, Karan Johar (the film's producer) has approved the script. So, hopefully in early 2016, I'll be able to talk more about the movie."

t was also reported by many media outlets including Indian Express in June 2015 that Bollywood megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, will also star in Mukherji's next film but nothing has been confirmed from their representatives.

Dragon has been in the pipeline for a while now. In July, the Rockstar actor, Kapoor, said in an interview with Hindustan Times that after making Wake Up Sid! and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Mukherji is thinking something big and that's why he is taking so much time to start the production.

"Ayan is thinking big, but for that he really has to concentrate on the writing part. Right now, he needs at least a year more for writing. I have always believed that Ayan is a genius writer. There's no pressure on him to start the film; when he is ready, we will jump into it," the actor added.

Dragon is scheduled to go on floors early next year and is tentatively releasing on Christmas next year.

Kapoor was last seen in Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha with Padukone and is currently shooting Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
