Priyanka Chopra has made a name for herself in India and the US with her latest TV series Quantico. Now, it looks like the Bajirao Mastani star may play the role of Indian-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla in an upcoming biopic.

Chopra earlier played the role of East Indian boxer Mary Kom in a 2014 biographical sports drama film, Mary Kom, directed by Omung Kumar. But when portraying Chawla in a biopic came up, the actress chose to stay mum. When asked about her role as a famous astronaut, the actress was quoted by DNA India as responding:

"There are bunch of films that have been offered to me, I can't commit which one I am doing. There are few really amazing scripts. I have lot of choices, but not much time."

Chopra also made it clear that she has been offered a total of six films, but because of her schedule in India and America, she can only sign two films at this moment. The actress also revealed that due to the enormous success of Quantico, she will not be able to do many films in Bollywood.

"The show Quantico has got extended so I am caught up with it. We have dubbed Quantico in 44 languages like Italian, Spanish, German, etc. We have got very good response for the show...from 13 episodes to 22 episodes. I did not expect this kind of response for the show. I can only do two films and I am in a predicament of deciding what to do next," Chopra added.

According to Rediff.com, the 40-year-old Chawla died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster which occurred on Feb. 1, 2003, when the Space Shuttle disintegrated over Texas during re-entrry into the Earth's atmosphere. All the seven crew members, including Chawla lost their lives in this tragedy.

Chopra will soon be seen playing the badass cop in Prakash Jha's Jai Gangajal. The film is slated to release on March 4, 2016.
