Ryan Phillippe Engaged to Law Student Paulina Slagter: Christmas Day Proposal?

Ryan Phillippe is engaged to law student Paulina Slagter, who he has dated for four years. The 41-year-old actor reportedly proposed to Slagter, 25, on Christmas Day. Phillippe was previously married to his Cruel Intentions co-star, Reese Witherspoon.

A source told E! News of the engagement, "[The couple] arrived in Miami on Sunday and had lunch at Seaspice, where they ate facing the river at the owner's table. She was really cute and humble about the way she showed off the ring."

An insider revealed that the newly-engaged couple will spend New Year's Eve together in Miami at the Five Star New Year's Eve party on Watson Island.

Phillippe and Slagter have not yet publicly commented on the engagement news.

This will be the second walk down the aisle for Phillippe, who was married to actress Reese Witherspoon from 1999 to 2007. The couple share two children together: daughter Ava, 16, and son Deacon, 12.

Phillippe also has a four-year old daughter named Kailani with his former girlfriend, Pitch Perfect star Alexis Knapp.

In April, Phillippe talk to Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show and admitted he had not turned his back on marriage.

Phillippe gushed over his girlfriend, telling Stern, "She's awesome. When people see her they have these judgments because she could be a model but she's about to graduate Stanford Law.

"Also what's great about it- as you get older certain issues become more important to you. I'm very involved in civil rights issues, and so to be with a woman who could actually make an impact in the legal realm. That's a beautiful thing."

The actor admitted he would be open to the idea of getting married again. 

The Lincoln Lawyer star told Stern, "It’s [serious]. I’m not opposed to [getting married again]."

In addition to exciting relationship developments, Phillippe has a couple of projects to look forward to in 2016, including the release of a TV project, Shooter.
