Given that he's been known to offend in the past, Ricky Gervais has officially apologized in advance for any offensive jokes he is going to tell at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. The Derek star and creator made the apology via Twitter back on Jan. 1 after bringing in the new year.

This coming Golden Globes ceremony will be the comedian's fourth time acting as host, after having hosted three consecutive years starting back in 2010. After making several controversial headlines, Gervais was "replaced" with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. But in 2016, The Office creator is stepping into the shoes yet again.

And he's pretty much ready to not "give a f*ck," as he mentions on Twitter.

Even before sending out the tweet, Gervais has mentioned that he's already written some jokes that will undoubtedly draw some "heat" from the crowd, specifically nine. Of course, if he's sober, he'll be brave enough for merely six of them.

Time notes that Gervais' new gig is somewhat of a surprise considering he vowed never to host again. Sure enough, however, he's back!

The 73rd Golden Globe Awards will air on NBC on Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. Be sure to tune in to see just how much critics believe he'll have to apologize for come Monday morning.
