Tristan "Mack" Wilds is the stars in the film as DeeVee, an aspiring Hip-Hop producer who works alongside his friends, recording in a garage, to make it big in the industry. DeeVee and his two friends one of which is the smart, talented Nikki Jones (Afton Williamson), who chooses Hip-Hop over law school and her boyfriend David Aaron (David Call), who lands an internship at a radio station. Method Man aka Clifford Smith also stars in the film as DeeVee's father. Wilds and Method Man (member of Wu Tang Clan) both grew up in Staten Island.

The Grammy-nominated Mack Wilds reflected on what it was like to work with Method Man as his father in an interview saying "We're both from Staten Island so I have known him since I was a kid," he says of Method Man. "My father owns a barber shop so he would cut all of Wu-Tang's hair. So it was cool and hilarious to have [Method Man] play my dad - a man who was so strict and just wanted me to go to school and get a job - versus the real Method Man, who told me to follow my dreams and go for what I want."
