AMC will present the first live-action version of writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon's cult Vertigo Comics hit, Preacher, in 2016. In the adaptation by collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, will Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer end up meeting Derek Wilson?

As we previously mentioned here, Preacher follows Jesse Custer (Cooper), a man of the cloth, who loses his faith after being possessed by a supernatural creature named Genesis. A hybrid of angel and demon, Genesis takes control of Preacher, causing him to unwillingly kill his entire congregation and flatten his church. With newfound powers, Custer journeys across the U.S., with his ex-lover Tulip O'Hare (Ruth Negga) and the hard-drinking Irish vampire Cassidy (Joe Gilgun), to find God.

Adapted by writer/director duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (This is the End), Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) will serve as showrunner for the horror/drama series and has already written the highly antiquated pilot. The first trailer of Preacher made its debut in 2015.

According to Deadline, the Rectify actor has been promoted to series regular on AMC's upcoming new drama. Wilson will be seen by viewers in the role of Donny Schenck, who happens to be a Civil War re-enactor. Because Schenck is an abusive thug, he will end up getting into altercations with Jesse Custer. The Preacher may have to teach Schenck some good manners if the small-time criminal wants to redeem himself to a higher power.

Wilson's role as Donny Scgenck was elevated from regular to series regular possibly because the television creators saw something in the actor to pursue. Wilson has a recurring role on Sundance Channel's Rectify and appears on Broadway in Macbeth.
