Netflix has been bringing their A-game when it comes to original content for all ages, and recently the site even hosted several family-oriented New Year's countdowns, so extending their kids' block seems only natural – and in comes Guillermo del Toro with his new animated series, Trollhunters.

According to Engadget, Trollhunters is only one in several new projects for children on the site, and while the specifics aren't quite clear just yet, it seems there will be a new "reimagining" of Voltron streaming on the site as well besides a myriad of new shows.

Trollhunters is already a young adult horror book written by Del Toro himself, and the Pan's Labyrinth director will be adapting from himself, following the story of two friends "who discover terrible things."

Del Toro's new show is part of a partnership between Netflix and DreamWorks, as the two giants expanded their previous multi-year deal, which means that the streaming site will now be the whole of a number of new "original series for the whole family from the studio," as explained through a Netflix press release.

"DreamWorks Animation is synonymous with great storytelling that families around the world enjoy," said Cindy Holland, the VP of Netflix's Original Series division. "It's with great pleasure that we expand on an already successful relationship with DreamWorks Animation to bring more premium kids and family television to Netflix members globally."

This is a major step for Netflix, as they're now licensed to stream DreamWorks content globally (except for China), not only while their deal lasts, but also after it has passed and even if it's not renewed.

The dates of the upcoming shows (as well as the total amount and what each and every one of those even is) is still unknown, so we'll have to wait for new updates to see what Netflix and DreamWorks have in store.
