Sarah Silverman made quite a splash on Twitter over the Christmas holiday weekend. On Christmas day, the comedienne and actress tweeted, "MERRY CHRISTMAS! Jesus was gender fluid!" The tweet immediately prompted a backlash, with several people sending hateful tweets to Silverman. Yesterday morning, Wednesday, Dec. 10, The Hollywood Reporter had its annual Women in Entertainment event, which honors … you guessed it … women in the entertainment industry. During the ceremony, the late comedienne Joan Rivers was honored by not only her daughter Melissa Rivers, who finally broken silence on her mother’s sudden death, but also comedian – and new girlfriend of Masters of Sex star Michael Sheen – Sarah Silverman. And while many were thinking it possible the newly announced Fashion Police host Kathy Griffin would be speaking, we cannot say we’re disappointed in Silverman’s speech, because as usual, she did not disappoint – even when she began speaking about Rivers’ ban from The Tonight Show.
