Yesterday morning, Wednesday, Dec. 10, The Hollywood Reporter had its annual Women in Entertainment event, which honors ... you guessed it ... women in the entertainment industry. During the ceremony, the late comedienne Joan Rivers was honored by not only her daughter Melissa Rivers, who finally broken silence on her mother's sudden death, but also comedian – and girlfriend of Masters of Sex star Michael Sheen – Sarah Silverman. And while many were thinking it possible the newly announced Fashion Police host Kathy Griffin would be speaking, we cannot say we're disappointed in Silverman's speech, because as usual, she did not disappoint –– even when she began speaking about Rivers' ban from the Tonight Show. Oh, and by the way, former NBC talk show host Jay Leno was in attendance. Oh boy...

Claiming Rivers was "not done," Silverman took to the stage at the THR event and spoke about her friendship with the iconic comic, explaining that one of her favorite memories of Rivers was her saying she "didn't find her comedic voice until she was 70," adding, "And I love that."

Check out Silverman's speech at the Women in Entertainment breakfast below:

"This is a woman who was banned from the Tonight Show for the crime of getting her own show." If only the camera had panned to Leno during that comment. It's been said that Leno never had Rivers on the famed NBC late night program in order to respect his predecessor Johnny Carson.

Of course, current host Jimmy Fallon doesn't seem to agree, because 40 years to the day of her final Tonight Show appearance, Fallon had Rivers on the NBC program. And unsurprisingly, she killed it.

After Silverman ended her touching tribute to Joan Rivers, she threw to Rivers' daughter Melissa, who noted that her mother was "fearless" –– not saying she had no fears, but she was fearless in the fact that at 5' 2" she was not afraid to stand up strong and walk through those fears.

It seems safe to say she was 100% correct.
