Backstreet Boy star Nick Carter is being sued by the bouncer he allegedly tried to choke and hit at the Hog's Breath Saloon in Florida earlier this month. The bouncer, Skylar Carden, filed the lawsuit against the singer for assaulting him after being kicked out of the bar for his "unruly and disrespectful" behavior.

TMZ reports Carter and a friend arrived at the bar already intoxicated at around 7 p.m. Witnesses revealed that Carter's friend Michael Papayans even headbutted the manager of the bar after demanding a drink.

The site also reported that Carter and Papayans were already restrained by bar staff when the police arrived on the scene. Carter was arrested at 8:13 p.m. and booked for misdemeanor battery.

News of the lawsuit comes after Carter apologized publicly on Twitter for his behavior the night of his arrest.

This isn't Carter's first brush with the law. The Backstreet Boys star was arrested in Tampa, Florida in 2002. A fight broke out inside the Pop City club and Carter refused to leave the venue, despite being asked over 10 times by police officers.

Carter was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor for resisting and opposing a police officer without violence.

The singer released a statement at the time of his arrest, saying, "I truly believe my celebrity motivated the officer to arrest me. I am certain that after a full investigation of the facts my name will be cleared."

The singer and his wife Lauren Kitt, who married in 2014, are expecting their first child. The couple are having a baby boy.

Carter competed on Dancing With the Stars on the Fall 2015 season, coming in second behind Bindi Irwin on the dancing competition. He said of his time on the show, "This experience was a bonding experience, it was something I will always remember. Bindi deserved it, she kicked butt."
