Lorne Michaels Biography: ‘Saturday Night Live’ Creator to be Subject of New Book

Comedian Marc Maron may have finally grabbed the interview he'd been waiting for on WTF, but it's The New Yorker editor Susan Morrison who is working on the official biography of Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels.

The New York Times reports that Morrison is currently speaking with the famed late night name as well as several people around him. The publication notes that there have been "several months" of talk between the two.

Of the news, Morrison noted, "In the 70s, Lorne noticed that while movies and music had kept pace with the counterculture, television was still square. With SNL, he changed that: suddenly television could be smart and hip, transgressive."

A title and release date for the film have yet to be released.

Michaels famously created Saturday Night Live back in the early 70s, thus changing the way of late night television and the nature of live TV. The first episode aired way back in 1975, and it has been on NBC ever since, having recently celebrated its 40th anniversary last year.

Saturday Night Live is currently celebrating Season 41. Last week welcomed in guest host Ronda Rousey. This coming Feb. 6, Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David will step in as the host.
