Will Lady Gaga Return to 'American Horror Story' After 'Hotel'? Angela Bassett Weighs In

In the early days of 2016, the Hollywood Foreign Press gave pop superstar Lady Gaga her first-ever Golden Globe Award for her work playing The Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel, the fifth season of Ryan Murphy's hit anthology show. Now, Angela Bassett, her co-star on the series, dishes on whether the "Applause" singer will be returning for an encore in season 6.

Bassett recently stopped by Entertainment Weekly to dish about her upcoming project, the thriller London Has Fallen, and of course, she talked about the next season of the FX series. So far, she's the only confirmed returning cast member, and as such, she was asked the big question: will last season's revelation, Lady Gaga, return to the show?

"I hear, I think, perhaps that she's out to return. She had a good time with us," Bassett said cryptically, so fans can still hope for the Grammy winner to make a return, as she focuses more on acting.

It seems like even the cast doesn't quite know what's coming in the next season of the show, but Bassett said she recently spoke to Murphy, who said her character would "imbibe a little too much" and she was somehow under Sarah Paulson's control.

Weeks back, there were rumors that season 6 of AHS would center around Internet urban legend Slender Man, but the people behind he show quickly refuted that notion.

Bustle reports, however, that another pending theory is that the new season will revolve around Thatcher School, an institution that was mentioned a few times during last season's finale, as it's the place where John Lowe sent his daughter so she'll have a normal life away from her non-aging vampire family.

There's a real-life Thacher School (with no middle T) only a couple of hours away from Los Angeles, but it's unclear whether the AHS school would be based on that one.

In any case, though so far nothing's too clear, the still-untitled season 6 of American Horror Story should be on FX starting next October -- hopefully, with Gaga's return!
