There is little doubt that some fans are still wondering why the Caped Crusader has once again been given a reboot in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as the planned solo film about Bruce Wayne's alter ego. After all, the latest Dark Knight films from Christopher Nolan had already given the DC superhero an excellent conclusion. However, BvS director Zack Snyder has decided to speak up on why he decided to cast Ben Affleck as an older Batman and even admitted that he wanted to get Christian Bale to appear in the movie as another DC character!

Snyder recently spoke to Film Ink, where he explained why Bale couldn't possibly appear as Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman.

"This is a total and opposite reality from the Chris Nolan movies. It's another universe, so we couldn't hire Christian Bale if we wanted to, because he doesn't exist in our world," Snyder said before admitting that he actually had an idea to cast Bale in a completely different role.

"Maybe we could hire him to play another part," he said. "We did talk about that briefly. I just wanted to hire Christian to play another part to make that obvious. Christian could play, like, Alfred with age makeup."

It certainly sounds like a hilariously bad idea, but you can rest assured that Snyder was only joking about the plan.

"No! Of course not! But you know what I mean," he said, adding that he was constantly approached about getting other Dark Knight actors in Batman v Superman.

"Even people at the studio would say, 'Who are you getting from the other movies?' And I was like, 'Hey, come on guys, let's all understand, it's a different world,'" Snyder said before explaining the difference between Nolanverse and what he has created starting with Man of Steel.

"In the Batman universe that Chris Nolan created, Superman would have a hard time existing," he said, somehow insinuating that Bale's Caped Crusader couldn't possibly deal with a powerful flying alien with lasers coming out of his eyes and a bright red cape. "That's why we did a reboot on the universe, so we could allow these characters to exist together. We needed to do that to have Batman exist in this world."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25.
