The Marvel Cinematic Universe has made a new addition: the timeless boxing star Rocky Balboa! Sylvester Stallone was spotted in the same Atlanta hotel where all the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 stars are currently staying during filming, prompting speculation, but now the role he'll be playing in the James Gunn sequel has been revealed: he's one of Yondu's Ravagers!

Following up his recent Creed Oscar nomination with style, the legendary actor has joined the cast of the superhero sequel. According to Heroic Hollywood, the 69-year-old has been cast as one of the Ravagers in the upcoming film, and has already shot a few of the scenes as his Marvel character.

While Disney hasn't confirmed Stallone's appearance just yet, this seems to make sense. With previous reports of Yondu (Michael Rooker) joining the team led by Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, obviously the Ravagers would have a bigger role, which would explain casting such an iconic actor as Stallone. It appears Tommy Flanagan will also play a member of Yondu's team in the upcoming sequel.

Before this scoop, it was thought Stallone could be playing either Star-Lord's father or voicing Ego the Planet. While it's still unclear who will be voicing the singular-planet character, veteran actor Kurt Russell, who has been confirmed as part of the Guardians 2 cast, has been rumored to be taking on the role of Pratt's father.

There haven't been many official additions to the Guardians 2 cast so far; besides Russell, new cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy) as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) and Chris Sullivan (The Knick).

Although Josh Brolin's mega villain Thanos won't be making an appearance in the space-themed sequel (Marvel's apparently saving up the character for its Infinity Wars), most of the cast is returning for the film, including original Guardians Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista, with Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper in voice roles.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be out on theaters on May 5, 2016.
