The new Han Solo may soon be crowned, or given an appropriate blaster, as the shortlist for the lead in the second Star Wars spinoff flick has been narrowed down! The list that originally included Ansel Elgort and Miles Teller has now been trimmed down to three young actors: Kingsman: The Secret Service's Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor from Transformers: Age of Extinction and Hail, Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the three actors underwent several screen tests in London along with other hopefuls for the coveted role of the young Han. So far, Egerton, Reynor and Ehrenreich are the names that have repeatedly been mentioned to be the top contenders for the part. Although there are still other unnamed actors who are auditioning for the role.

But who will play the younger version of Harrison Ford's infamous character? The new Han could be chosen before the end of the month.

26-year-old Egerton got his first big break playing Dennis "Asbo" Severs in the British drama The Smoke before nabbing the role of Colin Firth's protégé Eggsy in Kingsman. He also starred in films like Testament of Youth, Legend and Eddie the Eagle and will be taking on the lead role in Robin Hood: Origins.

Reynor is an Irish actor who has won an IFTA Award for his performance in 2012's What Richard Did. He is set to reprise his role as Shane Dyson in the fifth Transformers movie.

Ehrenreich has appeared in two Francis Ford Coppola films (Tetro and Twixt) and is best known for playing Ethan Wate in the movie adaptation of Beautiful Creatures.

The Han Solo movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller while the script will be written by long-time Star Wars screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan along with his son Jon. The standalone film is scheduled for release on May 25, 2018.
