'Rustom' Actor Akshay Kumar Will Play Double Role In Director AR Murugadoss' 'Ikka'

Bollywood action hero, Akshay Kumar is among those stars in Indian Film Industry, who tries to make a difference in the society with every film he acts in. Kumar is currently shooting for Robot 2 and after that, he will wrap Rustom. After those projects, he will start shooting for director AR Murugadoss' remake of Kaththi titled, Ikka, after reportedly four years later.

The 2014 Indian Tamil action drama film, Kaththi is written and directed by Murugadoss. Iit featured Vijay in a double role with Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sathish playing the other important roles. The story revolves around the tale of Kathiresan and Jeevanatham (both played by Vijay), who are lookalikes and focus on the issues of farmers committing suicide due to new corporate rules. Upon release, the film opened to mostly positive reviews from critics and according to IBT, it was the highest grossing Tamil film of 2014.

It is being reported by Catch News that the Hindi remake of the Vijay-starrer Tamil hit, titled Ikka, will go into production in August 2016. The team is planning to wrap the shoot before Oct. 2016. Kumar, who is famous for shooting multiple projects in one go, has allotted bulk dates to the Ikka movie producers and is planning to also finish the shooting in one go.

In Ikka, Kumar is a petty thief and a postgraduate, who has communist ideologies. A source close to the development was quoted by Mumbai Mirror as:

"Murugadoss is presently re-scripting the film to fit a more North Indian set-up but Akshay will be seen in a double role."

Meanwhile, Murugadoss, who earlier worked with Kumar in Holiday: A Soldier is Never Off Duty, is busy finalizing with the rest of the cast that includes the leading lady. The News Minute states that there are rumors that Kumar will be seen sharing the screen with Meri Pyari Bindu actress, Parineeti Chopra.
