The Flash Season 2 SPOILERS: Twitter Reacts Candice Patton/Iris West-Allen Romance Twist!

The CW Network continues with Season 2 of The Flash. With the identity behind the super-villain Zoom (voiced by Tony Todd) revealed, Twitter had lots to say about the romance between the future Iris-West Allen (Candice Patton) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).

In our previous recap, Barry had to live his everyday life as a normal person, but that didn't mean his superhero days were over. With the crime rate rising in Central City, Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) was abducted by Griffen Grey. As the scarlet speedster recused Wells, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) found herself face-to-face with her doppelgänger, Killer Frost. In order to save Caitlin, Zoom had to stab Killer Frost to death. In order to rescue Caitlin and restore Barry's powers, Wells has to create the particle accelerator explosion once more. 

In our recent recap, Central City felt the full wrath of Zoom as he murdered a squad full of police officers in cold blood. With the city in dire need of a hero, Iris finally proclaimed her love for Barry. Iris helplessly watched as Barry felt the full effect of the particle accelerator explosion again. She burst into tears when Barry was vaporized right in front of her. 

In an interview with TV Line, co-showrunner Todd Helbing  teases, "By the end of the season, there might be a grand gesture" in the relationship between Iris and Barry.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg adds, "You can expect some twists and turns in that. But I think you can expect it to be moving steadily forward."
