While fans of the Kingdom Hearts series will have to wait a bit more for Kingdom Heats 3, Sora's inclusion in the game World of Final Fantasy will have to do for the moment. The Keyblade master will be a part of heroes the player can summon during the game, and will be available as a downloadable content.

Square Enix's newest role playing game for the Playstation 4 and the PS Vita, World of Final Fantasy, was released on the last week of October 2016, features a plethora of characters from one of the company's flagship titles, Final Fantasy. The character will be released alongside Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue on January 2017. Polygon reports that the "new" Kingdom Hearts title for the PS4 will be a compilation of one new and two remastered titles, and his appearance on the new compilation will be the same as the World of Final Fantasy.

World of Final Fantasy follows the story of Lann and Reynn, twins who suffer from amnesia that have the power to control Mirages, monsters of the world Grymoire. As they travel to get their memories back, they visit different locations from the previous Final Fantasy titles, and meet up with several figures from the series.

Movie News Guide shares that the game will render its characters in two modes: a "chibi" form - big headed, small-bodied cute forms popularized by Japanese anime - and a regular form. Its battle system will be an Active Time Battle (ATB), a staple in most Final Fantasy games, with a stacking mechanic reminiscent of the Disgaea series.

This marks the first time Sora's appearance on a Final Fantasy title, which seems to be a returned favor for the franchise. For those who are not familiar with Kingdom Hearts, the title is a joint effort between Square Enix and Disney. The main titles (Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2) have Sora, the series' main character, along with Goofy and Donald Duck travels to different worlds inspired by Disney movies. Along the way, they meet up with different characters from both Disney (like Ariel, Hercules and Cinderella) and from the Final Fantasy series (like Cloud, Squall and Sephiroth).
