Pop singing sensation Katy Perry was announced to perform in a big event in honor of Singles Day in China, this was announced on the 10th of November.

Along with the band OneRepublic and basketball star Kobe Bryant. The pop star released an apologetic statement on Weibo saying, "Regretfully, I must cancel my appearance on the Alibaba Double 11 due to a family emergency." According to Hollywood Life, Katy expressed her deep apologies for disappointing her fans but looks forward to seeing them in China soon. No details were given as to the nature of the announced family emergency.

The singer was also deeply devastated with the results of the 2016  election, Katy Perry took to social media to encourage a peaceful protest against the win of Donald Trump. Katy tweeted to the world saying, Do not sit still. Do not weep. MOVE. We are not a nation that will let HATE lead us." and "WE WILL NEVER BE SILENCED. #LOVETRUMPSHATE."

Reportedly, Katy Perry was replaced by former professional footballer David Beckham as "global ambassador" for Alibaba. The company is a Chinese e-commerce company that provides sales services and so much more via web portals. So to turn this down may not have the best decision, but as they say "Family comes first."
