The fifth season of "Arrow" features a lot of flashbacks in Oliver Queen/Green Arrow's (Stephen Amell) life. The flashbacks were to show how Oliver has evolved from a trained criminal avenger to becoming a Mayor.  All these seemed to point to an ending of the show.

Episode 7 of "Arrow" Season 5 to air this week is titled "Vigilante". As the episode's title suggests, a vigilante will find its way to Star City. Oliver and Team Arrow are not sure if this is good news or bad news both for them and the city.

As Ecumenical News revealed of "Arrow" Season 5 Episode 7, two dead bodies of criminals were dropped at the Star City Police Department and it dawned to Oliver that a new vigilante is present in the city. Although the action could be a form of help from the vigilante's end, the rest of Team Arrow does not agree to its methods.

In other story, Diggle (David Ramsey) is not happy with his current situation where his daughter does not exist anymore and was replaced by a John Jr. after the Flashpoint events. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) tries her best to stand by Lance's (Paul Blackthorne) side after he confesses a startling secret.

Season 5 of "Arrow" shows a lot of flashbacks in Oliver's life. This somehow gives a tone that the show is bringing together loose ends of the story to eventually give it closure. One example is of the villain Prometheus' entry to the superhero series.

In the previous episode "So it Begins" Oliver learned that the victims of Prometheus were coded provocations, whose names were anagrams of those corrupt elites that Oliver targeted for assassination in "Arrow" Season 1. The villain is a result of what Oliver has done in his days being the dark vigilante.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the show's executive producer and co-creator Marc Guggenheim, had said the season's theme is legacy. With the end of Flashpoint and with such themes, speculations that the show will soon end cannot be avoided.

Although Season 4 took a dip in the ratings, Season 5 of "Arrow" is doing pretty well and is still one of the four-most watched show in The CW. Cancellation of the show is not likely to happen at the present. They are tapping into Oliver's past to show consequences of his actions and therefore providing more story arcs for the show.

The producer further said that "they tend to look Season 5 as the end of a particular era". Amell however, believes that the show has reached a crossroad of whether it will go on or not.

Oliver Queen will come face to face with the new vigilante in town on November 16 at 8:00 p.m on The CW for episode 7 of "Arrow" season 5. Dolf Lundgreen will guest star as Konstatin Kovar. Watch the trailer here.
