Rick and Morty Season 3 delayed the premiere date as the creator of the show revealed that January, 9 premiere will actually not happen due to the complexities of the production process. The premiere date rumor sparked when IMDB initially posted that the new season of Rick and Morty will air on January 9, 2017. The rumor was debunked by co-creator Justin Roiland through his personal Twitter account saying that season three is not aired in January. Roiland, however, didn't reveal further the exact air date.

Prior to January 9 premiere rumor, there had been also a rumor saying that Rick and Morty was expected to air before the end of 2016. Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland also revealed that season 3 will have four episodes longer than the previous two seasons, bringing the show's total episode to fourteen.  The premiere date speculation continues as it tells that season 3 might air later this March.

With no exact premiere date, fans and viewers are left hanging expecting this year's most anticipated show to return. Harmon also stated that he and co-creator Justin Roiland are being under pressure to make the show reclaim its previous two seasons' success. He also explained the success of the show has increased the perfectionism to a whole new level.

Harmon said that sometimes during production, the team didn't share the same sentiments toward the outcome of an episode, thus they need to retouch it to meet a higher standard. "It's been harder this season," Harmon shared his thought about season 3 production.

Adult Swim has also released Rick and Morty Season 3 trailer to keep fans looking forward to the show's newest season. The trailer hinted that Rick Sanchez will be able to escape the Galactic Prison in the early episodes of season 3. It surely makes us wonder how Rick will manage to escape the prison's security to get back to his family after years of living as The Galactic Federation's most dangerous criminal.
