Samsung Android Nougat Update Confirmed For Galaxy S6 Family, Note 5 And Other Samsung Devices

We have already seen the official release of Android Nougat for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. Logically, users with 2015 flagships also kept their fingers crossed to see the new OS when will hit on their Galaxy S6/S6 edge and Note 5 devices, too.

In early December we saw a Nougat-powered Galaxy Note 5 make an appearance on the benchmarking service GFXBench, so with that everyone assumed that the device will get updated at some point. It appears that listing and speculations were correct. Now the devices are getting the latest firmware update of 7.0 Nougat.

According to a press release by Samsung's newsroom, which is noted by Phone Arena, the following devices will get updated to Android Nougat "within the first half of this year":

• Samsung Galaxy S6
• Samsung Galaxy S6 edge
• Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Plus
• Samsung Galaxy A3
• Samsung Galaxy A8
• Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen
• Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (LTE unlock)
• Samsung Galaxy Note 5

The manufacturer has also not detailed a exact timeline for the roll out schedule of nougat to each device, but the older flagships; the Galaxy S6 devices and Galaxy Note 5 will likely see Nougat first. Naturally, Samsung begins sending new software to unlocked handsets also with carrier models updating later, upon network approval, reports IBTimes.

That's great news for a lot of Samsung users indeed, and however it was expected, this is the first official confirmation that we get that older flagships will get the taste of Nougat. Nevertheless, when it comes to the tablets and the Galaxy A3 on the list, there are many different models in it. Samsung has released different A3 models for 2015, 2016, and 2017, still it has failed to specify which of the three devices will get updated to Nougat.
