Apple iOS 11 Features And Updates

Apple iOS 11 is the next major update for the apple devices. iOS 11 is tipped to bring new features and updates to the iPhone. The new operating system is expected to be released in beta in June 2017 at Apple event named WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference).

According to a report on BGR, the FaceTime application in iOS 11 will get support for group video calls. The report also suggests that Apple is working to make its FaceTime app more social friendly by deploying group calling feature which will support up to 5 participants in a single video call. This video calling will be initialized through the inbuilt iMessage application. The group calling feature will split up the display on the iPhone or iPad into four windows so the caller is able to see participant of the group video chat.

The development for this feature is being carried out in Israel as reported by GSMArena. Additionally, Apple is also working on upgrading its iMessage application by adding stickers and photo filters similar to apps like Snapchat and MSQRD. All these upgrades are relatable to Faceshift, a company which Apple acquired in late 2015.

Faceshift is a company whose technology can capture user's facial expressions and transform them into a 3D avatar in real time. The company was responsible for the special effects in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Apple might use this technology in the future iOS update to enhance the user experience.

There are some other striking features that are expected to debut with iOS 11. A finger detecting dynamic keyboard can make its way into the next iteration of iOS as apple has been granted a patent for the same. In this technology, the individual keys are placed according to the response of the detected position of the fingertips. A new patent has been granted to Apple that would enable iPhone users to check whether their contacts are available for a conversation including their current location.
