Web browsers have come a long way and are much more refined, feature rich and powerful than ever before. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer are most widely used browsers in the market today. By default, a windows machine comes loaded with Internet Explorer as the default web browser.

Google Chrome has a market share of 52.6% while the Firefox sits at 9.3% and Internet Explorer at 10.27%, as reported by PCAdvisor.

Google Chrome

Google Chrome is not only a browser but is also a launcher for Chrome Custom Tabs. A number of extensions and apps can be installed inside Google Chrome. Tweaking the functionality and settings, the users can customize the web browser according to their needs and preferences. Chrome can be tweaked as per the tips and tricks given here.

Speaking of the features, Chrome has Cloud Sync, custom extensions and is supported on multiple platforms like Mac OS, Linux, and iOS. The Google Chrome is powered by WebKit Engine and a V8 Javascript Engine which makes it excel in the speed tests. The Google Chrome latest update has further enhanced its performance and reduced its battery consumption.

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox is a powerful browser with support for numerous add-ons like AdBlockers, third party download managers and user agent profile switcher. The Firefox also has advanced sync features, Chromecast support and beautiful themes to enhance the user experience. Firefox lags behind Google Chrome in most speed tests including Kraken, Octane 2.0 and HTML 5 Test, as reported by ZDNet. However, Mozilla's browser is much lenient on the battery compared to Google Chrome.

Firefox is powered by Gecko engine and features TraceMonkey javascript engine. Mozilla Firefox is an open source project and is backed by a large community of developers. Its features and settings can be tweaked by typing "About:Config" in the address bar of the browser.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer is the default browser that comes installed on windows machines. The current Version 11 of IE is powerful and offers much better performance than the previous versions. However, it still lacks the versatility and customizability of browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.

IE is still the most compatible browser on the Internet and the current version is as fast as Google Chrome and Firefox. The browser is powered by Trident engine and is only supported on Windows platforms.

Google Chrome is the most popular web browser but is not very efficient in terms of memory management. Firefox, on the other hand, is a mixed bag and offers good performance without taking a toll on the battery life. Microsoft Internet Explorer is a powerful browser but does not have advance features unlike its competitors.
