"Vikings" Season 5 spoilers paint a grim picture for the House of Ragnar. The seeds of discord among his sons have already been sown in that shocking "Vikings" Season 4 finale. For those who are yet to watch the episode, please be warned of the spoilers up ahead.

When "Vikings" Season 5 release date arrives later this year, it will also mark the beginning of a new era for the Vikings. While the clans have been united under Ragnar's leadership, the unity between his sons will not last long.

In fact, "Vikings" Season 5 spoilers say that an open war between the brothers is inevitable. These spoilers came from no other than "Vikings" creator Michael Hirst himself in an interview with TV Guide.

"Vikings" Season 4 finale saw Ivar kill his own brother Sigurd. Ivar's action will deeply affect the other brothers driving them apart which will eventually result to an open warfare among them explained Hirst.

The brothers were never close to begin with. Avenging Ragnar's death was just what pulled them together last season. But since they have already done the job, they will no longer have that common goal that could unite them "Vikings" Season 5. In fact, Sigurd's death by Ivar's hands will mark the beginning of conflict between them.

Aside from the predicted vicious fighting among Ragnar's sons, "Vikings" Season 5 will also see a new enemy that could challenge the Vikings' dominance. In fact, fans have already seen him briefly in last season's finale, in the person of Bishop Heahmund, played by actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Bishop Heahmund's character is actually based on a real group of warrior bishops in the past. In fact Bishop Heahmund is a real person, explains Hirst in an interview with Variety. These warrior bishops are said to be the precursor of the Knights Templar.

Bishop Heahmund is said to be devout, clever and well educated. However, he is far from being soft and spineless for he is foremost a warrior ready to do battle with pagans such as the Vikings.

"Viking" Season 5 release date is expected to arrive later this year. Be sure to tune in to MStarsNews for the latest updates.
