Fans are still not certain whether "Sherlock" Season 5 will happen after the BBC drama aired its third and final episode for Season 4. However, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and series creator Steven Moffat shared their thoughts on the possibility of the show's renewal.

Although there have been a lot of controversy on the possibility of "Sherlock" Season 5 after it aired its Finale episode for Season 4, it is a clear fact that the BBC series stars so many A-list actors, including Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch and, which could make it a little bit difficult to gather the cast for another season.

The show's creator, Steven Moffat gave a tidbit on the future of the show at a recent screening and also whether there will be a "Sherlock" Season 5 according to Independent. The showrunner revealed that he does not want the show to end, but it is possible for the show not to continue as the BBC series ended without a great cliffhanger, unlike the previous seasons.

THR reports that Moffat previously revealed that he and Mark Gatiss have already plotted "Sherlock" Season 5 and Cumberbatch said this fall, they never say never on the show as he would love to revisit it and keep revisiting it. But they all have tight schedules in the immediate future, and the show has been made complete as it is.

On the other hand, Cumberbatch expressed his interest to reprise his role if BBC decides to renew the series and create "Sherlock" Season 5, but the actor stated that their busy schedules are making it extremely difficult to continue the series. The best thing for fans to do right now is just to sit back and play the wait and see game.

However, Freeman urged viewers and fans to sit back and enjoy watching season 4 of the series before asking for "Sherlock" Season 5. It also seems that Moffat has a lot of ideas in mind should the network renew the show for series 5 as he explained that lots of villains will be featured if there happens to be another season of "Sherlock." He also revealed the process of creating the storyline for the upcoming season with Mark Gatiss by traveling abroad and also choosing Toby Jones for the role of Culverton Smith.
