Almost seven years has passed that the massive blockbuster film, "Avatar" of James Cameron was released. Because of its phenomenal success, a lot of sequels were planned by the production company; however, it seems that even an initial production for the sequel was delayed for different reasons.

According to various reports, the consistent delay on its production was due to the director and his screenplay writers' plan to make "Avatar" as a trilogy. However, as further meetings ensued, two extra films were reportedly decided that brought the total to five.

Hollywood Reporter has reported that the film will finally release somewhere in December 2018, which was very uncertain according to the fans that even the actress Sigourney Weaver is very much cynical of it. Weaver played the character of Dr. Grace Augustine in "Avatar". Weaver revealed in an interview that the staff and crew have not even started filming yet does that date was unrealistic, according to Rolling Stone.

Meanwhile, another actor of "Avatar" confirmed that scenes for the sequel will be very special. Sam Worthington promoted his new film, "The Shack" in New York City when he was asked about the "Avatar 2".

Despite all these delays, Sam Worthington recently confirmed that the upcoming parts in the Avatar movie are something quite special. "They're going to be shooting concurrently. The plan is to have some time in between, I think, but these things are always ambiguous until they start. We're still set to start in the summer, though. James needed time to perfect the scripts. Whenever he says jump I go because he's the man," Sam shared about the upcoming film.

Sam also shared some progress about "Avatar 2", stating that he read all the scripts and that they are great. The film will also feature the main protagonist, Jake and his own family, eight years later.

Apart from Worthington, Slash Film reported that Stephen Lang also dished out some details on "Avatar 2". Lang was confirmed to reprise his epic role of Colonel Miles Quaritch. He exposed that the whole realistic process of the sequels in making the films and opening the films. "As the New Year turns, we start to shoot for the Avatar sequels. I think that the whole process of making the films and opening the films will go to about 2023," Lang stated.

Currently, February 2017 reports conveyed that James Cameron's "Avatar 2" is set to be release in December next year. But as a film with a very massive production and editing needed to achieve its perfection, the 2018 Christmas premiere may seem impossible.
