"Half Life 3" is one of the anticipated games today. The hype has been growing over the years but Gabe Newell once again shut the rumors even blaming the "childish" developers for promoting the game that was never confirmed.

"Half Life 3" could be dead but its dedicated fans are still hoping for its return. To make the matter worse, some Valve developers seem to be fueling the hype by promoting it.

In this Reddit forum, the members talk about a particular photo featuring a "Half Life" icon with a number 3. Fans immediately speculated that this is about "Half Life 3."

In a separate incident, Valve employees wore "Half Life 3" t-shirts during the GDC. "Half Life" fans took it as another way of advertising the game. Hence, intensifying the speculations that the third installment is in progress.

Unfortunately, Gabe Newell has another take about these incidents. The co-founder and president of the Valve Corporation blame its employees for enjoying on bolstering "Half Life 3" hoax.

"Some of the more childish members of our company have worn Half-Life 3 T-shirts to GDC," said Newell as reported by Venture Beat. It seems that he also takes the logo circulating online as another "childish" move. Their communication specialist also speaks up about the controversial photo. "It's news to us that the picture is out, but it's also news that this icon is on the screen," said Greg Coomer. "Honestly, those icons have floated around this office for quite a while. None of us are going to be able to tell you what that is or why that's there."

At the time Valve is developing three VR games. However, there are no details about the upcoming games. It is also unconfirmed if "Half Life 3" is one of them. Thus, the title could be dead and alive at the same time. Dead if it's not in the works but always alive to fans who have been waiting for it.

What's your take about the Valve employees toying about "Half Life 3." Do you agree that the developers are being "childish" or is Newell shutting the hype because he wants to surprise fans? Drop a comment below.
