'Criminal Minds' Season 12: Reid Possibly to Plead Guilty to Get Lighter Sentence

Will Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) plead guilty in the upcoming episode of “Criminal Minds” Season 12? If he does, the fans’ fear of him doing time may be coming true.

Although the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) is doing everything it could to get him out of prison, Reid’s most harrowing experience will continue. And, with the BAU unable to get the support of the FBI in its efforts, they enlist lawyer Fiona Duncan (Jeananne Goossen). She is an old friend of Prentiss' (Paget Brewster).

In the “Criminal Minds” Season 12 episode titled “Collision Course,” Duncan will try to get Reid out of his mess but she needs him to cooperate and tell the truth. As seen in the promo, Duncan reveals that the murder weapon belongs to Reid. Although he insists that he did not kill Nadie Ramos, Duncan is beginning to think that Reid is hiding something.

Last week on “Criminal Minds” Season 12, Reid was accused of murder while in Mexico. To make matters worse, he doesn’t remember anything. Rossi (Joe Mantegna) tried to help him out of his dire situation by telling the local authorities that Reid was just framed for the crime according to Buddy TV. They will not be buying it, though, since Reid’s situation even turned for the worse.

EP Erica Messer said in a TV Line interview that the previous “Criminal Minds” Season 12 episode was an intense game changer for Reid. In the upcoming episode, fans will know whether he will plead guilty or not. The consequences of his decision will also be revealed.

Messer adds that Reid knows that he would never do something like he is being accused of. His being in the FBI also tells him not to admit something he didn’t do. But, if he pleads guilty, Reid will definitely get a lighter sentence.

Another teaser Messer gave out is that Mr. Scratch, an old foe of the BAU, may have something to do with Reid losing his memory. The killer is said to play an important role in the next nine episodes of “Criminal Minds” Season 12.
