‘Shameless’ Season 8 Spoilers: Mickey’s Return Possible; Other Plot Details We Know So Far

"Shameless" Season 8 may see the return of Ian's ex-boyfriend Mickey. Likewise, other spoilers for the instalment tease Lip's decision to go to college and a change in Fiona's lifestyle.

Mickey might return to "Shameless" Season 8 if actor Noel Fisher's interview is any indication. The actor sounded optimistic when he teased the possibility of Mickey's appearance, given his story with Ian was open ended. "As far as I've ever known -- the character is not dead, so it's fairly open ended. The prison story and even with this, it's the same basic thing. There's always the possibility," Fisher told TV Guide. 

Meanwhie, Fiona says goodbye to parenting in "Shameless" Season 8. According to Mic, the installment takes off where Season 7 ended, which includes Frank being back in the family. This means Fiona (Emmy Rossum) no longer has to act as a parent to her younger siblings. This may come as a surprise to her at first. Fiona may find it hard to adjust not being a parent for a change. 

Another Gallagher sibling decides to change for the better--Lip goes to college. "Shameless" Season 7 ended with Lip (Jeremy Allen White) telling Sierra his plans to go back to college. Sierra encouraged Lip by reminding him that other people still care about him. Of course, she was referring to herself. However, fans will have to wait until "Shameless" Season 8 comes out to see if Lip takes Sierra's encouragement to heart and pursue college.

Likewise, the Gallagher family reunites in "Shameless" Season 8. The installment opens with the Gallagher family together again after Monica's death. Her funeral made this happen. It was a wakeup call for the family to come together.

Meanwhile, fans have yet to know the "Shameless" Season 8 release date. Season 7 premiered in October while Seasons 5 and 6 both returned on air in January. Given this timeline, it is safe to assume the show returns in October 2017 or January 2018. Regardless, Showtime has yet to announce the exact release date for the instalment.
