Mama June Shannon Weight Loss So Drastic, Even Her Kids Didn't Recognize Her; Why She Did It

Mama June Shannon‘s much-anticipated new reality show “Mama June: From Hot to Not” premiered on Friday. Soon, viewers will see for themselves the drastic weight loss reveal. For now, all that has been revealed from the premiere was why she decided to lose all that weight.

The new show documents the diet and training that Mama June Shannon had under Kenny Crooks. He calls the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” matriarch’s weight loss as “the most shocking transformation in reality TV history.” According to Crooks, so shocking is her slim down that even her kids didn’t recognize her after.

Mama June Shannon had gastric sleeve surgery in 2015. But, after her weight loss started to plateau post surgery, Crooks was called in to help her. Once they got the momentum, she was able to go from 469 pounds to a size 4 as reported in People.

It certainly was a lot harder than it sounds. Crooks admits to having to initially use an airhorn to get Mama June Shannon out of bed in the morning. They had to cut down portions, how she ate and change the way she looks at food in general. She also did a lot of working out.

The reason behind the much anticipated body transformation was to get revenge from her cheating ex, Sugar Bear. He is Honey Boo Boo’s dad, who Mama June Shannon wanted to get back with initially. However, Sugar Bear revealed that he will be getting married and wanted her to be there according to
US Weekly. Mama Bear Shannon wasted no time in trying to get skinny and find a hot date in time for the wedding. She has 44 weeks until the wedding to accomplish that.

So how do their daughter Alana, 11, best known as Honey Boo Boo and her half-sister Lauryn or Pumpkin, 17, figure into Mama June Shannon’s weight loss mission? They got in on the fun and were totally on board. Crooks revealed that they can’t have two different menus and made it a team effort to make everything easier.

All seem going well for Mama June Shannon now that she had her revenge body and got her confidence back. But, the “Mama June: From Hot to Not” premiere created another controversy for her. Reports say that she was wearing a fat suit and they think it is to exaggerate her weight loss when her slim downed body will finally be revealed.
